From Pluralistic Normative Principles to Autonomous-Agent Rules

چکیده

Abstract With recent advancements in systems engineering and artificial intelligence, autonomous agents are increasingly being called upon to execute tasks that have normative relevance. These directly—and potentially adversely—affect human well-being demand of the agent a degree normative-sensitivity -compliance. Such norms principles typically social, legal, ethical, empathetic, or cultural (‘SLEEC’) nature. Whereas this type often framed abstract, as high-level principles, addressing concerns concrete applications requires refinement into explicitly formulated practical rules. This paper develops process for deriving specification rules from set norms, thereby bridging gap between operational practice. enables select most normatively favourable action intended context premised on range underlying relevant principles. In translation reduction SLEEC rules, we present an iterative uncovers addresses concerns, identifies resolves conflicts, generates both preliminary complex normatively-relevant guiding development better positioning them SLEEC-sensitive SLEEC-compliant.

Principles of Functioning of Autonomous Agent-Physicist

An interesting approach towards human-level intelligence has been proposed at BICA 2011 [1]. Namely, it is proposed that an intelligent artificial BICA agent would be able to win a political election against human candidates. The current work proposes another approach. Our approach is based on the fact that the most serious cognitive processes are processes of scientific cognition. The backgrou...

The Situationist Urban Design; Rules and Principles

From a general perspective, urbanism can be assumed as a bipolar world. On one hand, large-scale plans formulated by official organizations are shaping urban environment and the entirety of our cities; on the other hand, social activists and artists, active in the field of cities, are making an effort to give it a human character. According to De Certo (1984), the first approach to city, adopte...

Counterfactual Conditionals and Normative Rules

Counterfactual thinking is the consideration of how things could have turned out differently, usually taking the form of counterfactual conditionals. This experiment examined the psychological mechanisms that transform counterfactuals into deontic guidance rules for the future. We examined how counterfactual thinking translates into deontic guidance rules by asking participants to infer these d...

From Adaptive Systems Design to Autonomous Agent Design

Interest in adaptive systems design has been steadily growing in the SE community, in part due to the ever-increasing complexity of modern software-intensive systems. Inspired by control theory, various types of controllers (e.g., feedback) are beginning to appear in software architectures for many applications. Within those controllers, distinct activities such as monitoring, analysis/diagnosi...

An Underwater Autonomous Agent. From simulation to experimentation

The development of an Autonomous Underwater Vehicle is a complex process that usually needs different sub-process like simulation, implementation and experimentation. Frequently these processes are disconnected among them and require rewriting the code increasing the probability of error. This paper presents an hybrid control architecture, named OOCAA, for an underwater agent. The OOCAA, Object...
